In 2019, Giorno created the first of a new series of Stone Sculptures. Made by engraving his timeless phrases into found bluestone boulders, these works enact a clash between the immateriality of language and the solid sculptural presence of heavy stone. In that sense, these “stone poems” play with issues of transience and permanence, with the text fragments appearing as apparitions.
Each sculpture is unique, with each phrase appearing on three stones.
